Film Reels to DVD

We transfer film reels to DVD in Melbourne at our Kew East lab. If you have 16mm or 8mm home movies and no working projector, you can have the footage transferred to watch again and share with family. Ask about DVD or digital files when you order.

16mm was introduced in 1923 as a cheaper alternative to 35mm. 8mm followed in 1932 as a cheaper alternative to 16mm. Both formats are among the film reels we transfer, along with Super 8 and 9.5mm.

We transfer 16mm, 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm reels to DVD. If you'd rather have digital files on a USB so you can copy them and keep a backup, ask when you order.

Film transfer is quoted on the reels. Prices are fixed and agreed at the counter before work starts, with no hidden fees. Bring the reels as they are; we do all the labelling. Every job is identified with a unique four digit sticker.

How long a job takes depends on how many reels there are, how busy the shop is and the condition of the film.

No appointment needed. We've been at 605-607 High Street, Kew East since January 2020, opposite the Harp Hotel. Tram route 48 has stop 39 right out the front. There are public car parks near the shop in Valerie Street and Strathalbyn Street.

We're open Monday to Thursday 10.00am to 5.00pm and Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm. Weekends we're closed.
